Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx

The Pyramids of Giza were built by a highly organized workforce, not by slaves as is often thought. Their beauty, extraordinary shape, perfect geometry and age make them one of the wonders of the world. These massive tombs were built on orders from the Pharaohs, or Kings of Ancient Egypt. Their belief in an after life and as sons of the gods required these massive mausoleums. The pyramids are now located in the congested suburb of Giza and the area is full of locals selling everything from postcards to camel rides.

4,000 years old and still standing.
Tourist Police officer at corner for size comparison.

We were their on a day air pollution wasn't too bad.
Being surrounded by Cairo, the air is often brown.
