Wanaka, NZ

Wanaka is my new favorite place to hang out and relax.  A beautiful place with lots to do, but it's not crazy like Queenstown has become.  The lake is the big attraction with all kinds of water sports happening here. Lots of hiking and other outdoor activities and several cool museums. The Warbirds & Wheels museum houses classic cars and  world class collection of fighter planes.  The National Transport and Toy Museum is 16 acres and 4 huge buildings packed full of toys, planes, trucks and cars.  It's fascinating, amazing and awesome.  And a little overwhelming...

RNZAF Hurricane from WW II.

One of 4 huge buildings, packed full.

1971 VW bugs.

American Heavy metal, Ford Mustang.

A classic Duesenberg, built in Indianapolis.

Cabinets full of toy buses, lots of red double deckers.

A Matchbox safari Land Rover, from late 60's (?).
Anyone know where I can get some?
They remind me of my childhood in Africa.

Another cabinet full of toy cars and trucks.

An early Ford pick-up truck.

A 1943 Dodge Ambulance.

The Transport and Toy museum packed to the roof.

Wanaka Airport.

Mt Iron trail.

View of Wanaka from halfway up.

View from the top.

Another view from the top.

I have a thing for PEGASUS now
that I work at one in Antarctica.

View from the roadside trail.

Awesome Lake Wanaka.
